About A&MMUN

A&MMUN is a three-day Model United Nations conference that is organized by Ahliyyah and Mutran students and attended by students from other esteemed schools. Each year, our conference offers opportunities for networking, skill development, and the ability to represent key players in global politics. You will participate in this event as a country or advocate, presenting your viewpoint on various international problems in the hopes of finding a solution. Our delegates will research and go deeper into this idea by participating in debates that discuss different topics. For those who would like to read more about it, you can check out the Secretary General's letter and dive deeper into the committees and their topics.

THEME

This year's theme, “The Illusion of Justice,” invites delegates to question Western narratives of justice, especially in the Arab world. Our logo reflects this, centering on Lady Justice, a symbol of fairness. Her blindfold signifies neutrality, while the spiral behind her exposes the "illusion of justice," highlighting the failure of global institutions like the UN to address atrocities such as the Gaza genocide. The imbalance of her scales, held by her mouth, underscores the distorted nature of justice today. The map of Palestine on her mouth symbolizes the silencing of Palestinian voices, which we are determined to amplify. The laurel leaves, in the colors of the Palestinian flag and accompanied by the Kuffiyeh, serve as a powerful call to action for delegates to tear down the illusions and confront the deep-seated biases that pervert global justice.

We will not forget, and we will not be silent.

SECRETARY GENERAL LETTER

Hello everyone,

I’m Jude Al-Arabiat, and I’m proud to serve as the Secretary General of this year’s A&MMUN.

This role represents more than just a title to me; it’s a reflection of the journey I’ve been on to shape my own identity. MUN has taught me how to build myself without being told who I should be, and most importantly, it’s where I learned to question everything. Nothing should be accepted without scrutiny, from the smallest details to the grandest global issues.

While I’m proud of what we stand for here at MUN, I’m not proud of the organization we model, the United Nations. The double standards we’ve witnessed, especially during the war on Gaza, have exposed cracks in such organizations and shattered the myth of Western humanity. It has shown us that the world is often shaped by those in power, and the narratives and media that serve them.

That’s why this year, I challenge all of us to think differently. Let’s create a version of the UN that isn’t perfect only for those in power, those who control the mouthpieces of narratives, or those who manipulate the media, but one that is truly just and equal for everyone. We have a unique opportunity here to model what the UN should look like: a place where every human life matters, and where justice is upheld regardless of who holds the reins of power.
