Dear Delegates of the Security Council,

I welcome you all to one of the most challenging and heated committees within MUN. This committee is held at the highest status within the United Nations and is considered the face of diplomacy and peace, consisting of 15 members including 5 permanent members and 10 non-permanent members which all hold the responsibility of discussing the most pressing issues in our world, issues that threaten national and international security. As delegates of this committee, you possess the power to put yourselves in the shoes of the powers that shape the world as it is today. However, this will not be an easy task, and I as your president will challenge you all and make sure you are able to improve both as debaters and as political enthusiasts. In order to uphold this committee’s title as the best committee in MUN, I implore you all to perform extensive research and prepare complex resolutions.

My name is Laith Abboushi, and I am honored to be the president of the Security Council for this year’s Ahliyyah & Mutran MUN conference. And with that I would like to wish you all the best of luck.
