President Letter
Zeina Bagaeen
Welcome Delegates of UNCSW!
I am Zeina Bagaeen, and as your president for The UNCSW we should urgently address the critical violation of systematic violence and denial of rights against Palestinian and Afghan women. In this context, the Committee calls for a condemnation of this abuse, imposition of targeted sanctions, aid, and humanitarian assistance, as well as promotion of international dialogue to ensure that global commitments on women’s rights are met. The world is watching, and it is our moral obligation that we protect and empower these women by bringing a change into their lives.
In this year’s A&MMUN’24 we will delve into the pressing issues faced by women globally, with a special focus on the theme of this year’s conference. Our discussions will allow us to explore vital solutions, strategies, and policies that can lead to real-world change. The challenge ahead is immense, but the opportunity to advocate for justice, equality, and the empowerment of women is even greater.
I encourage each of you to bring your passion, creativity, and knowledge to the table. Your diverse perspectives will not only enrich our debates but will also help shape the solutions we aim to present to the global community. This is your chance to step into the shoes of global leaders, diplomats, and changemakers, and your contributions will be pivotal in shaping the direction of our work.
In the face of complex issues, remember that every great movement begins with a single idea, a single voice, a single step forward. As we gather to discuss, debate, and negotiate, let’s not forget that our purpose is to stand up for those whose voices are too often silenced. Together, we have the power to advocate for change that uplifts women worldwide, ensuring that their rights and dignity are protected.
This is not just another conference, it is a new chance and experience for you to make a difference. I have full confidence in your abilities to lead, to collaborate, and to find meaningful solutions to the challenges we will tackle.
I look forward to seeing your diplomacy, leadership, and dedication in action. Let’s make this conference an unforgettable experience and, more importantly, a step towards a brighter, more equitable future for women everywhere.
As we converge today under the auspices of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, we reach a critical moment in history. Today, humanity is being brutalized with unimaginable atrocities concerning the basic rights of women across the globe, in Palestine and Afghanistan specifically. These need our prompt and undivided attention.
Your President,
Zeina Begaeen.
